It’s going to be hot in the city on the nights of the 24–28th September in Singapore when the chequered flag is raised and guns spark off the first ever evening grandprix in F1 history. To mark the event, online travel merchant, Agoda Company, has arranged a series of hotel deals for racing fans.
On a unique circuit design that includes famous Singapore landmarks such as the Raffles Boulevard, St Andrews Rd and Anderson Bridge, the 2008 FORMULA 1TM Sing Tel Grandprix, is also the first street race ever to be hosted in the Asian region.
F1 aficionados can witness the high octane action from several vantage points in the city including the exclusive ‘Singapore Flyer’, the world’s largest observation wheel. Race organizers created extra grandstand seats to meet demand for the exciting event.
According to the Singapore Formula One TM working committee, the event will be witnessed by approximately 90,000 spectators, which is several times more than other large-scale Singaporean events including National Day celebrations. For this reason, safety is a key issue for event organizers.
“Formula OneTM racing is an exciting sport that is made more thrilling with the high speeds and fast turns. As race organizers, our role is to ensure that we provide a race track that meets the safety requirements of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile or FIA. Equally important is the need to ensure the safety of all road users during race week when we put in the finishing touches to transform Singapore’s city streets into a race circuit for the world’s first night race in Formula OneTM history,” said Mr. Lim Neo Chian, Deputy Chairman & Chief Executive, Singapore Tourism Board, who chairs the Formula One™ Working Committee.
With all the precautionary measures in place, fans are revving up for a fantastic race. Malaysian F1 fan, Jonathan Chan, who works with Standard Chartered bank, says he has no doubt the event will be one of the highlights of the year.
“I’ve religiously been to the Sepang circuit races in Malaysia and have been very impressed with the degree of excellence shown in hosting these events. I believe the Singaporean race will bring this to another level yet again. I also think the organizers should be applauded in their efforts to make the event as accessible to locals and those living within the region as possible,” he told Agoda.
With tickets still available for purchase, Agoda Company has made the possibility of traveling to the event all the more feasible with a series of special Singapore hotel deals.
“We’ve secured the hottest deals for some of the best hotels in Singapore leading up to and during the Singapore F1 event,” said VP of Business Development at Agoda, Mr Wilfred Fan.
